I wanted to share a maternity photo session I did awhile back in October 2014. My beautiful sister Annie was 20-something? weeks pregnant and although she did not want to be photograph because she hates being photograph when pregnant, I made her model for me anyway just so I have an excuse to take some photos that day. It was a really nice day and I did not want it to go to waste. I'm sure, those of you who are in photography, know what I mean. Well, I wanted a soft and airy look to the photos, so to achieve that.. My sister and I went out to JoAnn's Fabric store and bought a few white fabrics to make her maternity dress. It was all tulle and the chest part area is a chiffon material like fabric. We put the two fabrics together not knowing how it may turn out, good or bad, and surprisingly it turned out really nice!
I wanted these photos to have that "pregnancy glow", therefore, I re-touched the photos by adding in a light halo around her.
We then went out to the walking/bike trail in her backyard and snap a few photos. There were quite a few other photographers there too that day and a lot of passer's. She was too shy to pose because of all the people there, but since she loves me, she did it anyway. She was a trooper.

The photos above, she was standing on a hill and I was at the bottom looking up. I love this spot, but because of the sun, we didn't stay here long. I didn't have an assistant to help me with the reflector to bounce the sun off her face. Eventually, we had to move to a different area.

She didn't reveal the gender of her baby to anyone yet until this photoshoot. I'm glad she waited, because prior to this session, everyone wanted to know what she was having. To think of it, in a way, it was a maternity/gender reveal photoshoot.

We incorporated some blue balloons in the photos. With the balloons it made her popped out more.

My sister had her baby in February, and named her son, Felix Vang. Of course, I had to photograph my little newborn nephew. He is such a darling, & most definitely there will be a post about that session soon. I'm still trying to finish post-processing the photos at the moment. Stay tune and be on the look out for a blog post about his newborn session.
If you or someone you know who is looking to do a maternity session, please feel free to contact me at [email protected] or www.facebook.com/cxynb - My contact info can be found on my website's homepage too. Thank you for reading.
