Outdoor Photos or Indoor Photos?

What is right for you? 

I frequently receive inquiries regarding the availability of a personal studio for indoor photography. Although I do not possess a dedicated studio and primarily focus on outdoor photography, I am capable of accommodating clients who prefer indoor sessions. It is important to note, however, that there are several factors to consider when opting for indoor photography. I have compiled a list of the advantages and disadvantages associated with both outdoor and indoor photography below, which will assist you in determining the type of photos you would like me to capture.

For outdoor photos, there are several advantages. When the location is not private and is accessible to the public, such as parks and trails, there are typically no hourly fees involved. However, exceptions do exist, such as botanical gardens and certain outdoor venues that may require photography permits. Furthermore, outdoor settings offer a diverse range of backgrounds, including natural landscapes, urban environments, wooded areas, open fields, tall grasses, pine trees, and floral arrangements. These locations provide ample space to accommodate various families and events. On the other hand, some disadvantages of outdoor photography include the necessity to select areas that offer sufficient shade for optimal photo quality, especially if capturing photos in harsh sunlight in outdoor setting. Harsh sunlight can present significant challenges. Additionally, the success of having good photos is heavily influenced by the day's weather conditions, which may include factors such as wind, cloud cover, overcast skies, golden hour (the preferred and best time for lighting given it's a sunny day), as mention before- harsh sunlight, rain, or snow. Overall, outdoor settings are often preferred by my clients, as they align well with their budgetary considerations and specific needs.

For indoor photos, there are two types of indoor photo options available that you can do. The first option is Indoor Lifestyle Photos, where I visit your home to capture images of you, your family, your newborn, whatever it may be in a natural setting, without the use of backdrops or props. The primary advantage of this option is the absence of a time constraint, along with no extra charges for conducting the photo session within your home. However, a potential drawback/disadvantage is the limitation of space, which may become a concern if you wish to include a larger number of individuals in the photos by which your home may not have the space for. The second option is Indoor Studio Photos, which involves renting a studio space for the session. This option requires you to find a suitable rental studio, cover the hourly rental fee, and handle any necessary cleanup after the session. Below is a list of available studios for rent. Both indoor options offer the benefit of avoiding concerns related to inclement weather and lighting conditions. However, it is important to note that if you choose the studio option, the rental fee is an additional cost separate from my collection's pricing, which clients are responsible to pay for should they choose this option. Clients covering the hourly rental fee is primarily the major disadvantage of indoor studio photos. In addition, time is also very important and requires careful consideration, as rental studios do charge overtime for use of space. Any charges incurred for overtime will be the responsibility of the clients should they choose this indoor studio photo option.

Below are just some A LA CARTE you can add to the Collection's base price:

*Add $50.00 for a 2nd outfit change for Signature 2 & 3 Collections.

No 2nd outfit change is allowed for the Special & Signature 1 Collections.

*Add $50.00 for an extra half hour or $100.00 for an extra hour.

Please note, if the allowed max time in the chosen collection is reached,

clients will be subjected to an overtime charge of $50/half and $100/hour.

*Traveling outside of the counties I service without a charge is $0.60/mile round trip,

Starting from and back to Menomonee Falls, WI.

Wisconsin counties I service without a travel charge:

Waukesha, Milwaukee, some Ozaukee, and some Washington areas.
